McHenry man killed in Wauconda Township crash identified

The Lake County coroner's office has identified the McHenry man who was killed Wednesday morning in a Wauconda Township crash.

Michael Linderman, 59, was driving a van when it was struck by a semitrailer truck during a three-vehicle pileup at Route 60 and Wilson Road.

The crash happened about 8:05 a.m. when a 24-year-old man from Ingleside driving a 2018 Chevrolet Trax south on Wilson Road didn't stop at a sign on Route 60 and pulled into the path of a westbound Peterbilt truck driven by a 50-year-old man, which struck the eastbound Ram ProMaster van driven by Linderman, authorities said.

Linderman was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy Thursday showed Linderman died as a result of multiple traumatic injuries caused by the crash.

A 31-year-old Kenosha, Wisconsin, man riding in the van, as well as the drivers of the Chevrolet and the truck, were taken to hospitals with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash remains under investigation.
