Roselle businessman Eichholz appointed as interim village trustee

Roselle businessman Todd Eichholz will become the newest village board trustee on an interim basis.

The village board voted unanimously Monday to appoint Eichholz to fill the seat that had been held by Patrick Devitt until he abruptly resigned in October because he was moving out of the village to spend time with older family members.

Eichholz, who has served on the village's zoning board of appeals since 2015, said he will serve the remainder of Devitt's term, which expires in April, and does not intend to then run for election to the seat.

Mayor Andy Maglio was thrilled to have him join the board.

"He has always stepped up when help has been needed," Maglio said. "I personally think the village board has made an excellent decision."

Born and raised in Roselle, Eichholz comes to the village board with a strong business background and family roots to Roselle dating back to the 1950s.

He is the CEO of A & A Paving and was named Roselle's Business Person of the Year in 2014 by the Roselle Chamber of Commerce. He is a past Roselle Chamber president, previously served as a chamber board member for nine years, was a Taste of Roselle commissioner and is a founding member of the Roselle Police Association Foundation.

He also is a member of nonprofits Stepping Stones for Women of Domestic Violence in Roselle, and Lagers & Leaders, which develops leadership and business training programs throughout the village.

Eichholz credited his business expertise for his selection as trustee and believes he can help the village with the proposed Metro 19 Apartment development project.

If approved, the $80 million apartment complex would be one of the largest developments in Roselle's history. It would be a five-story, 293-unit apartment complex with a parking garage that would be used by village residents and Metra commuters.

"Everything rises and falls on leadership, and there is nothing more important to a successful team than leading the culture and developing future leaders," Eichholz said in a statement. "That is truly my passion in life."

General municipal elections in Roselle are April 6, with three trustee positions, village clerk, and mayor on the ballot.
