St. Charles temporarily closing city buildings to public

St. Charles is temporarily closing its city buildings to the public starting Nov. 30 due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19.

The decision is in response to the Restore Illinois Tier 3 mitigations put in place last week by Gov. J.B. Pritzker in an effort to limit the strain on the state's health care system.

The city announced Monday it will continue to conduct public meetings through the Zoom app. Lakeshore Recycling Systems will continue regular pickup of refuse and recycling.

The police station will be open to the public for essential services but the municipal building, public works building and fire stations will be closed to the public.

In-person utility bill payments will not be accepted. Payments can be made at www.stcharlesil.gov/utility-billing, by phone at (844) 443-9794, by mail or deposited at the city's dropboxes.
