Man accused of throwing loaded pistol at Clarendon Hills police

A Chicago man has been accused of throwing a loaded pistol at Clarendon Hills police when they chased him Sunday morning.

Bail was set Monday at $200,000 for Kobe Mayers, 20, of the 7500 block of South Calumet Avenue. He is charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. He also is charged with misdemeanor resisting a peace officer, according to a DuPage County state's attorney's office news release.

Authorities say police were investigating a suspicious person near Holmes and Harris avenues at 7:40 a.m. Sunday when they saw three men, who then ran off. One of the men, later identified as Mayers, threw a loaded 9 mm pistol, with an extended 30-round ammunition magazine, at the officers, authorities said.

Mayers was taken into custody after a brief chase.

If convicted, Mayers could be sentenced to two to 10 years in prison.
