Four to interview for St. Charles council vacancy

Four St. Charles residents will interview for the 3rd Ward alderman position left vacant when William Turner resigned in August.

The city made the announcement Thursday, adding that interviews of the four candidates will take place in an executive session of the city council on Sept. 8, and the new alderman will be announced at the Sept. 21 city council meeting.

"I am pleased that multiple residents have come forward to serve in their local government as (an) alderman," Mayor Ray Rogina said. "I look forward to engaging with the city council in the selection process for filling the 3rd Ward seat."

City clerk Charles A. Amenta II, who served on the liquor control commission from 2012 to 2016, is one candidate. Another is Lucy Gruber, a seven-year resident of St. Charles who is an emergency management specialist for FEMA.

A third candidate is Chris Meldrum, the founder of the St. Charles Rowing Club and owner of a local real estate appraisal business. The fourth candidate is Christopher W. Roswold, a CEO and co-founder of Smartopia network monitoring service and director at Custom Residential Systems.
