Glenview Park District's Flick Aquatic Center to reopen Saturday

Glenview Park District's Flick Aquatic Center is scheduled to reopen Saturday after closing earlier this month when five staff members reported testing positive for COVID-19.

The district worked closely with Cook County Department of Public Health to conduct contact tracing for any potential spread. Based upon the information reported and reviewed, officials do not believe any member of the public had close contact with the individuals who tested positive.

The facility has been fully sanitized twice this month, most recently on Thursday, July 16, and has remained vacant since then. The district has worked closely with the Illinois Department of Public Health and exceeded all safety guidelines for reopening. Additional safety enhancements have been implemented to further limit contact between staff members. These enhancements will not affect patrons' experience when visiting the pool. Below are just a few examples:

Original Safety Measures: Schedule staff in small group "pods" for inservice training.

Enhancements: Assign one static manager to each small group pod; eliminate contact with other managers.

Original Safety Measures: Group pods together into four larger "squads" for regular scheduling. Try to reduce exposure between squads.

Enhancements: Create two larger "teams" made up of two squads each. Dedicate specific shifts for each team. No cross-contact of teams allowed for last-minute schedule changes.

Original Safety Measures: Limiting 4 people at a time in the break room, spaced at tables 6 feet apart.

Enhancements: Development of an alternative outdoor break area, space tables 10 feet apart.

Original Safety Measures: Requiring employees to conduct self-led health evaluations before their shift.

Enhancements: Managers to conduct private health evaluations with each staff member prior to their shift.

Based on restructured staffing plans and changes, Flick Aquatic Center will open with reduced hours: 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., seven days a week.
