Schaumburg Library names poetry contest winners

The Schaumburg Township District Library has named the winners of its 2020 poetry contest.

Pretti Singh won in the adult category for "In a Time of Distance," Madison Schoewe in the teen category for "April 2020," and Alissa (whose last name was not identified) in the children's category for "The Little Birdies."

The annual contest ran from April 1 through May 15 in celebration of National Poetry Month. Submissions were limited to 250 words.

Winning poems will be soon be posted at schaumburglibrary.org/poetry-contest.

"The Poetry Writing Contest provides an opportunity for writers of all ages to submit their works of poetry," said Fiction Librarian Allison Bies, who coordinated the contest. "The judging team enjoys the creativity, passion, and style diversity of entries."

Next up in library writing events is the annual Flash Fiction contest, which began July 1 and will conclude Friday, July 31. For more information or to submit an entry, go to schaumburglibrary.org/flashfiction.
