Bloomingdale closing pool for summer, canceling concerts

Bloomingdale Park District will not open Oasis Water Park this summer and has canceled its Summer Concert Series for 2020, as well as the Splash & Dash Duathlon.

The park board decided on the pool closure and concert cancellations at its virtual meeting Monday, based on guidance in the five-phase Restore Illinois plan in the wake of COVID-19. The Northeast region including DuPage County is in Phase 2.

The park district plans to process refunds within the next three weeks for residents who already bought 2020 Oasis pool passes.

The B-Fit Center and Clubhouse Indoor Playground remain temporarily closed, as do Open Gym, the Westfield Walking Track and exhibits at the Bloomingdale Park District Museum. The B-Fit Center may be able to reopen with restrictions once the region progresses to Phase 3 in the Restore Illinois plan.

The district also will look to offer outdoor group fitness classes for groups of less than 10 and one-on-one fitness training once Phase 3 is reached.

Summer Day Camps could begin if the region reaches Phase 3, with restructuring to incorporate small group sizes and physical distancing.
