Face coverings to be required at DuPage courthouse

Starting Friday, attorneys and other members of the public will be required to wear face coverings inside the DuPage County courthouse in Wheaton.

The administrative order requiring face coverings was issued Tuesday by Chief Judge Daniel Guerin. He said the order is consistent with recent CDC guidelines and an executive order from the governor that takes effect Friday.

"We continue to remain vigilant in protecting the health and safety of courthouse employees and the public," Guerin said in a statement. He said wearing face coverings in the public spaces of the courthouse "is a prudent and effective measure to take to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus."

Everyone inside a courtroom, including courtroom personnel, will wear a face covering. Attorneys and members of the public are expected to have their own face covering. Courthouse security personnel will have a limited supply of face coverings.
