Chili cook-off to benefit Appalachian Service Project

What could be better in this cold, snowy weather than spicy, hot chili?!

You can sample a number of delicious varieties at the Appalachian Service Project Team's Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, Feb. 15. It will be 5 to 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Geneva, 211 Hamilton St.

Whether you favor super spicy, mild, black bean or white chicken chili, you can help determine who will be the 2020 Chili Cook-Off Master!

A freewill donation lets you taste the different chilies, and then vote for your favorite.

Proceeds will benefit Appalachian Service Project home repair trips. Last summer, the church took more than 120 teens and adults to Appalachia to help repair homes.

The Appalachia Service Project serves the southern Appalachian mountain states (Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia. West Virginia) and aims to make homes warmer, safer, and drier for low-income families. It's a life-changing week of service, fun, and fellowship. The Geneva church has served with the project since 1982. You can learn more about ASP at their website, www.asphome.org.

The next trip is set for June 27 to July 4.
