Celebrate the outdoors at Spring Valley Winter Fest

The heart of winter still lies ahead, and the Schaumburg Park District will celebrate it during the Spring Valley Winter Fest from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 and Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg.

Sponsored by the Spring Valley Nature Club, the fest will feature a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including horse-drawn wagon rides, winter-themed crafts and games, marshmallow roasting over a bonfire and dog-sledding demonstrations with Alaskan huskies.

Weather permitting, snowshoe walks may also be available that weekend.

"We're excited to host this annual winter family event," Spring Valley Manager Dave Brooks said. "Snow tracks give us a glimpse into the busy wildlife that roams the valley, and this event is a great opportunity to observe nature while having fun."

Warm beverages and food will be available for purchase. Admission is $3 per person, $12 per family and free for kids 3 and younger.
