North Central seeking Div. III football championship

The Cardinals of North Central College are off to seek a football championship.

The team left campus Tuesday evening from Naperville en route to play at 7 p.m. Friday for the Division III national title for the first time.

The Cardinals are set to square off against the Warhawks of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the 47th annual Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in Shenandoah, Texas.

Fans can watch the game live on ESPNU-TV and through streaming services at WatchESPN.com or the ESPN app starting at 7 p.m. Friday. Cardinal fans in Naperville also can attend one of two local watch parties downtown. The Lantern at 8 W. Chicago Ave. #1 and Empire Burgers & Brew both are set to tune TVs to the game.

The college also is sending a contingent of students and marching band members to Shenandoah to watch the action, leaving on charter buses at 6:30 a.m. Thursday.
