Victim identified in fatal Lisle crash
A 54-year-old Lisle man has been identified as the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a car Thursday on Route 53.
Lisle police continue to investigate the crash, but have not issued any citations to the driver whose car hit Thomas Stavenger, the department said in a news release Friday.
A witness reported that the man attempted to cross Route 53 between Lacey and Southport avenues when he was struck by the vehicle traveling south on Route 53, police said.
Police were called to the 4500 block of Route 53 about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Stavenger was found unresponsive in the roadway, police said. The driver, a 67-year-old Clarendon Hills woman, was unharmed and remained at the scene, police said.
Lisle-Woodridge Fire District personnel rushed Stavenger to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where he later died from his injuries.
Lisle police were assisted by the DuPage MERIT Major Crash Reconstruction Team.
