Traditional dancers dazzle at Trickster Art Gallery in Schaumburg

Traditional dances from around the world were on display Saturday at the Trickster Art Gallery in Schaumburg.

Dancers from the Filipino, Japanese, Aztec and Maori communities performed traditional pieces as part of the event presented by the Chicago Cultural Alliance. The performances came with explanations of the dances and a lesson on the historical significance of dancers' attire.

The event was part of Inherit Chicago 2019, a monthlong festival of intercultural art, ideas and performance at neighborhood heritage institutions. The Trickster Art Gallery, a nonprofit Native American gallery and community arts center, is located at 190 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg.
