Countryside Fire open house/breakfast

The Countryside Fire Protection District will host an open house and pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at its headquarters, 600 Deerpath Drive, Vernon Hill. Cost is $15 per family or $5 per person for all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage, fruit, coffee and juice. Demonstrations of Jaws of Life vehicle extrication, high-angle rope rescue from 100 feet in the air, live fire sprinkler activation, a smoke trailer and giant inflatable fire truck for kids to explore are among the activities.
