Elk Grove Twp. to host seminar on transferring property after death

Cook County and Elk Grove Township officials will host a free seminar Tuesday night about how to safely transfer property to heirs without a will and trust.

The Property After Death Seminar is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Elk Grove Village municipal center boardroom, 901 Wellington Ave., where licensed professionals will talk about low cost options to safely transfer houses, vehicles and bank accounts while avoiding legal fees, court costs and probate court. Attendees are encouraged to bring beneficiary information, a property tax bill and property legal description.

The seminar is being organized by Cook County Commissioner Kevin B. Morrison, Cook County Recorder of Deeds Edward M. Moody and Elk Grove Township Assessor Connie Carosielli.
