Siblings arrested in Vernon Hills shots fired report

A pair of siblings face felony charges in connection with a shots fired report last week in Vernon Hills that led several nearby schools to go on temporary lockdown, police said Thursday.

Ulises L. Jacobo, 20, of the 3500 block of Mary Avenue in Park City, is charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, mob action and criminal damage to property stemming from the Sept. 17 shooting in the 300 block of Plumwood Court.

His sister, Guadalupe B. Jacobo, 18, of the same address, is charged with a felony count of criminal damage to property and mob action, court records show.

According to Vernon Hills police, a resident of the Westwood subdivision reported what sounded like a gunshot in the neighborhood about 8:45 a.m. Sept. 17. Responding officers learned that a resident heard banging and what was believed to be gunshots, looked outside and saw a man identified Ulises Jacobo standing near the resident's car holding a handgun.

A woman later identified as Guadalupe Jacobo was seen hitting the resident's vehicle with a baseball bat, police said.

It was reported that Ulises Jacobo was in the area looking for his ex-girlfriend, who he believed was visiting the resident.

Ulises Jacobo turned himself in Monday at the Lake County jail, where he remains in custody on $500,000.00 bail, police said.

His sister is free after posting $3,000 bond. She's scheduled to appear in court Oct. 29.
