Schaumburg park to host Farm to Fork Festival Aug. 14

New eateries are popping up nearly every week in Schaumburg, but the Schaumburg Park District is preparing an event this month aimed midway between the traditional restaurant experience and the DIY approach of the village's weekly farmers market in Town Square.

The park district's Farm to Fork Festival will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Heritage Farm, 201 S. Plum Grove Road in Schaumburg.

The 21-and-over festival will showcase some of the area's top chefs as they prepare dishes made from locally produced fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses — served alongside local beers and wines.

The event's menu is provided by Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen in Crystal Lake, Goose & Fox Event Catering in Chicago, Zin Gastropub in Lake Zurich and Ambrosia Patisserie in Barrington. The locally crafted beers and wines hail from Church Street Brewing in Itasca and Lynfred Winery in Roselle.

Local music performers Gritman & Moran will provide the live soundtrack for the festival.

“Heritage Farm's beautiful scenery is a perfect setting to experience local foods and drinks on a summer night,” Farm Program Supervisor Patty Kennedy said in a written statement. “We cannot wait for our guests to try our seasonal favorites.”

Admission is $32 per person, with a deadline for registration on Friday, Aug. 9.

Parking is available at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg, with a hay wagon shuttling guests across the grounds to and from Heritage Farm.

Parking will not be available at neighboring St. Matthew's Catholic Church for the festival.
