Pedestrian struck, killed in Lisle

A 62-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle in Lisle Friday night, police said.

The pedestrian, who hasn't been identified, was hit about 10:20 p.m. on College Road, just south of Maple Avenue.

When Lisle police officers arrived, the man was on the ground and unresponsive to aid. He was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove but later died due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Police said the vehicle that struck the man was seen leaving the scene northbound on College.

Lisle police and a major crash reconstruction team conducted an investigation and later confirmed the driver of the vehicle when he returned to the scene. The 18 year-old Lisle resident was cited for failure to render aid and released pending a court date, officials said.

The accident investigation took more than three hours to complete, and College was closed to traffic during that time.
