Streamwood man sentenced for attempting to sexually abuse teen

A Streamwood man who tried to molest a teenage girl he met through an online dating site pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Jibran Shahzad, 27, was sentenced to 24 months of sex offender probation and ordered to register for the rest of his life as a sex offender in exchange for his guilty plea, court records show. Sex offender probation includes treatment, a curfew and other conditions.

Prosecutors say Shahzad encountered the then-16-year-old girl online, met her in a Wheeling parking lot last November and drove her to a more remote parking lot, where he attempted to sexually abuse her.

Shahzad was also ordered to pay $859 in fines.
