Downers Grove man charged in downtown stabbing
A Downers Grove man with a history of domestic battery convictions is again behind bars after a Tuesday dispute in which he and another person were stabbed in a fight that spilled out onto the sidewalk during lunch hour in downtown.
Lorenzo Flores, 44, of the 1000 block of Maple Avenue, is being held on $50,000 bail and charged with felony domestic battery.
According to police, Flores and a male family member had a physical dispute during which both men suffered stab wounds. During that dispute, charging documents say, Flores grabbed a female family member by the hair while wielding a knife.
Downers Grove police spokesman Bill Budds said officers arrived around 12:20 p.m. to the area of Main Street and Maple Avenue and found the two injured men on the sidewalk. Downers Grove paramedics took them both to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital.
If Flores posts bail, he is required to stay 1,000 feet away from the victims and will be fitted with a GPS device.
His next court date is set for July 1 for arraignment.
