Mount Prospect summer concert series returns Friday

Mount Prospect's popular summer concert series, Fridays on the Green, returns Friday, June 7, with a 6 p.m. performance of soul, Motown and R&B standards by The Hemispheres, on the Centennial Green, outside village hall, 50 S. Emerson St.

The free concerts will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. and are kid-friendly events, village officials say. Attendees can bring a picnic or pick up dinner at a nearby downtown restaurant to eat on the green.

Future performances include: Suburban Cowboys (country), June 21; Ken Dix and the Friday Night Lawn Jockeys (classic rock to current hits), July 12; Zydeco Voodoo (traditional New Orleans music and popular rock and blues), Aug. 2; and Exit 147 (rock, classic rock, pop and Top 40), Aug. 16.

Free parking is available in the Emerson Street Parking Deck, Metra Commuter Lot (after 5 p.m.) and throughout downtown. For more information, visit experiencemountprospect.org.
