Vehicle strikes woman using Schaumburg crosswalk

Schaumburg police are investigating a Wednesday morning traffic accident in which a vehicle driven by a Schaumburg woman in her 80s struck a 65-year-old woman using the crosswalk on Weathersfield Way at Summit Drive.

Police Sgt. Karen McCartney said the woman who was struck is in stable condition, though it was unclear whether she had yet been released from the hospital.

Officers and paramedics were dispatched at 11:36 a.m. The preliminary investigation determined that the driver had been traveling west on Weathersfield Way when she struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk at Summit.

No tickets had been issued as of late Wednesday afternoon as the investigation continued.

"It's not been determined exactly what happened," McCartney said.
