Religious leaders gather for interfaith iftar in Schaumburg

Suburban Muslims joined with Christian and Jewish faith leaders on Tuesday in Schaumburg to celebrate an "iftar," or fast-breaking meal, during the holy month of Ramadan.

The interfaith gathering at Masjid Al Huda is one of many occurring throughout area for Ramadan, when observing Muslims abstain from food and water from pre-dawn until sunset to fulfill one of the pillars of their faith.

The gathering featured a keynote address from Imam Khalid Herrington titled "God Consciousness: The Purpose of Fasting."
