Chicago man faces drug, weapons charges in Lisle
A 28-year-old Chicago man faces numerous charges, including some involving drugs and weapons, following an early morning one-car crash Wednesday on the 700 block of Maple Avenue in Lisle.
Police said they responded at 3:52 a.m. to a report of a Toyota Corolla that had crashed into a tree. When they arrived, they said the driver, Andres Leyva of the 3000 block of North Kilbourn Avenue, showed signs of alcohol and drug impairment and was placed under arrest for driving under the influence.
During a search of Leyva's vehicle, police said they found two loaded handguns.
Leyva was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of more than 10 grams of cannabis, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving too fast for conditions.
He was taken to DuPage County jail.
