Schaumburg hosting cycling events for National Bike Month in May

Schaumburg is offering a variety of fun activities to get people moving as part of National Bike Month in May.

The calendar includes coordinated bike rides with the Schaumburg Bicycle Club, clinics with Bike Connection and classes at the Schaumburg Park District, as well as Bike to School events. Businesses and organizations also are being encouraged to gather teams of four and participate in the Business Bike Classic, where riders will record their bicycle mileage during the month for a chance to win a trophy and prizes.

Also included on the calendar is the popular Fahrrad Tour von Schaumburg, which is open to the public. The event, sponsored by the village park district, will kick off at noon Sunday, May 19, from the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center Plaza, 101 Schaumburg Court. Participants will take part in a roughly 4.5-mile ride throughout neighborhoods and parks surrounding the municipal center, then enjoy a picnic-style lunch and musical entertainment.

A calendar of bike activities is available of the village's website at http://bit.ly/2pdAJq4.
