Streamwood man charged with sexually abusing girl

A 34-year-old Streamwood man was ordered held on $250,000 bail Wednesday on charges he sexually abused a 12-year-old girl while she was taking a bath.

Pedro Morales is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault, a felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Prosecutors say the girl was taking a bath shortly after her mother left the home on Saturday when the girl claimed Morales entered the bathroom and began abusing her. The mother returned home to retrieve something she forgot, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Jennifer Gates.

According to Gates, the mother noticed the bathroom door locked with the water running. Opening the door, she found Morales and the girl, who told her mother about the abuse, which she claimed happened more than once, Gates said.

Her mom reported the allegations to the police the following day.

Morales was ordered to have no contact with the girl. He next appears in court on April 25.
