Lake in the Hills cancels springtime race

Lake in the Hills has canceled its annual Run Thru the Hills 5K/10K event, typically held the second Sunday of April.

Attendance for the race has been low the past two years due to poor weather conditions, village officials said.

The race was initially rescheduled for May 5. However, that conflicted with the Bob Blazier Run for the Arts 5K in Crystal Lake.

"To ensure that everyone can attend the Bob Blazier race, we will be canceling the Run Thru the Hills Cinco De Mile event," according to a village news release.

Officials are evaluating options for 2020 to bring back the Run Thru the Hills event on a day that doesn't conflict with other local races.

Meanwhile, the village's Sunset 5K race will return this year over Labor Day weekend.
