Issue questions

What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?

Bringing in new businesses to our City is a main priority for me. Working with already established business and making it easier to expand and improve their business, and having a good relationship with the owners is very important to me. Help curb unnecessary spending, i.e. clock tower. Bringing the female vote back to the Council. Currently, out of 21 board members, 1 is female. We need to break up the all male regime.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I have served with the Wood Dale Police Dept. as a Community Service Officer for 18 years. I always worked closely with seniors and animals. Since retirement, I feel I am not done serving my community. I am not afraid to stand up for and fight for what is right. I know our City inside and out. I am NOT a politician, nor will I ever be. I am and will always be shoulder to shoulder with residents in our community. Together we can make the changes we are all looking for.

Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board or city council.

When I have a goal, I am determined to obtain the desired end result. I research issues and find options for the best end result. I am not afraid to, and often have, gone above and beyond. I never give up.

How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?

I want to help curb the frivolous spending. The City is acquiring properties that are being left vacant, with plans to buy more. The clock tower is another example of the unnecessary spending. Our inspectors are being outsourced which is a huge cost to us. I would also work to get our reserves increased so in the event of another recession, our City wouldn't have to cut back on safety or services to our residents.

What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?

Maintaining and improving the "Tree City USA" award while encouraging new and continued growth in our business district. I spoke to a former resident who said they want to buy a house and move back to Wood Dale, but wont unless things change. I want to be part of that change.
