Issue questions

What are the most important issues facing your community and how do you intend to address them?

It is essential that we continue to provide a balanced budget and promote growth through economic development.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

As a Trustee, I have focused on fiscal responsibility and commitment to Streamwood. I have served two terms (eight years) as Trustee and during that period, we have not had to raise taxes. We have also promoted economic growth in our community by adding new businesses. I have actively served my Community through the Community Relations Commission, helping out at the Food Pantry and as a current member of the Streamwood Kiwanis.

Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing actions and decisions with your village board.

I have a great deal of respect for our Village President, Board and staff. We have worked together to address any problems that may arise and have focused on becoming more efficient and responsive to the needs of our residents. I am a History Professor. I may not have all the answers; however, I am a Historian. We know how to do our research. I will continue to work together to try to find solutions to any issues that may arise.

How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services people want?

We are operating in the Black and there is a reserve fund. Our budget is balanced and we have not had to raise taxes during the entire time I have served as Trustee. My goal is to ensure that we continue on that path of providing a balanced budget while still meeting the needs of our residents. We have a Comprehensive Plan for our Village and I hope to work together to implement the Plan according to budgetary needs.

What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?

It is not new; however, I want to continue to promote the, "Shop Streamwood" initiative to help our local businesses.
