Metra halted at Fox River Grove after vehicle struck by train

Metra trains were halted Wednesday night after a vehicle was struck on the tracks near Fox River Grove, officials said.

Inbound and outbound trains on the Union Pacific Northwest were halted about 7:45 p.m. as emergency crews responded to the scene. Metra reported about 9:25 p.m. that trains had began operating with extensive delays.

Additionally, Fox River Grove police said the intersection of Northwest Highway and Algonquin Road was closed due to the accident, according to a Facebook post. The intersection was reopend about 10:15 p.m., police said.

Further information was not immediately available Wednesday night.
