Candidate dropped from Antioch race

The number of candidates running for Antioch village trustee has been reduced by one. Angela Vitacco was stricken from the April 2 ballot Thursday by the Antioch Electoral Board for having an insufficient amount of valid signatures on her nominating petition. Vitacco submitted 186 signatures and 136 are required. However, many were found invalid because signers were not living at the address shown, lived outside the village and other reasons. The two-hour proceeding Thursday ended after the 51st signature was struck, leaving Vitacco below the required amount. That leaves four candidates running for three, 4-year terms: incumbents Ed Macek and Mary Dominiak and challengers Christina "Wojo" Wojciechowicz and Daniel Yost.
