Fire damages Wauconda home

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a home Tuesday morning in Wauconda.

Firefighters responding at 8:10 a.m. at on the 400 block of South Barrington Road found smoke and fire coming from the home, according to a department news release.

Initial reports were that someone was inside, but after searching the residence, authorities determined that no one was home, according to the fire district.

The fire was extinguished in about a half-hour, but the home was left uninhabitable. Details of the fire's possible origin, cause or damage estimate were not available.

Wauconda Fire District was assisted on the scene by Lake Zurich, Barrington, Round Lake, Fox Lake, and McHenry.

While at the fire, multiple other calls occurred, the release said, and the district was covered by several other departments including Grayslake, Fox River Grove, Lake Villa, and Barrington Countryside.
