Lottery finalizes ballot position for suburban school board candidates

The ballot order for candidates in suburban Cook County school districts was finalized this week through a ballot position lottery held by Cook County Clerk Karen A. Yarbrough.

Candidates who file their nominating papers at 8 a.m. on the first day of filing are put into a lottery to determine who gets the top spot on the ballot and who follows.

School board races not mentioned below did not need a lottery to determine candidate ballot order.

The consolidated general election will be held April 2, 2019.

Palatine Township Elementary District 15: Yuriy Figel won the top ballot position, and Adam Bauske will appear second. The other candidates running for the three 4-year seats are Zubair Khan, Samantha Bray Ader, Wenda Hunt, Lisa A. Krams, James Taylor and Nina Palit.

Arlington Heights Elementary District 25: The ballot order will be Chad Conley, Scott Filipek and Brian Cerniglia. There are three 4-year seats open.

River Trails Elementary District 26: The ballot order for the three 4-year seats is Frank Fiarito, Donna Johnson and Samuel Bae. The other candidates are Robert Rognstad and Janine Freedlund, who are running for two 2-year terms.

Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54: Mary Kay Prusnick has won the top ballot spot, followed by Bill Harper. Barbara Hengelo is also running. There are three 4-year seats to be elected.

Mount Prospect Elementary District 57: Jennifer Kobus won the top ballot spot, followed by Rachael Rothrauff and Kimberly Fay. Kristine O'Sullivan is the fourth candidate in the race for three 4-year seats.

Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59: Six candidates all filed at once for the top spot on the ballot, which was won by Daniel Naumowicz. The rest of the field, in order: Lisa Griffin, Barbara Somogyi, Courtney Lang, James Goranson and Randall Reid. The seventh candidate, Patricia "Patti" Petrielli, was not in the lottery. There are three 4-year seats open.

Maine Township High School District 207: The ballot order for the three 4-year seats is Theresa "Teri" Collins, Sheila Yousuf-Abramson and Paula Meyer Besler.

Palatine-Schaumburg High School District 211: Six candidates are running for four 4-year seats. The lottery was won by Steven Rosenblum, who will be followed on the ballot by Peter Dombrowski, Will Hinshaw, Mark Cramer and Matthew Saternus. Kimberly Cavill, the final candidate, was not in the lottery.

Northwest Suburban High School District 214: Alva Kreutzer won the lottery and will appear first; Dan Petro will be second and Bill Dussling third. There are three 4-year seats available.
