Mount Prospect hosting open house on difficult intersection

Mount Prospect will host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, to provide information about the Rand Road/Route 83/Kensington Road Intersection Study.

The three closely spaced intersections form a triangle near many businesses, including Randhurst Village. Long delays to get through the intersection and operational limitations are ongoing issues. Village officials say they are committed to developing a plan that will provide significant enhancements for the benefit of drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, nearby businesses and residents.

The study will not only consider improvements to the intersection and roadways, but also improvements to sidewalk and bike paths, driveways to businesses, lighting and drainage.

The open house will take place in the Community Room at Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson St. Village representatives will be on hand to discuss the study, answer questions and listen to feedback.

The project website, https://plan4randroad.com, has additional information on the study including a questionnaire to provide comments. Additional questions can be directed to the Public Works Department at (847) 870-5640 or publicworksdept@mountprospect.org.
