Two restaurants open Monday in Rosemont's Pearl District

Two restaurants in Rosemont's new mixed-use complex are set to open Monday, officials said.

Carmine's and Truluck's Seafood Steak & Crab House are opening their first suburban locations in The Pearl District, the 16-acre, $75 million development south of Balmoral Avenue and west of the Tri-State Tollway.

For Carmine's, it will be the 10th restaurant in the Rosebud Restaurants chain operated by Alex Dana, who opened the first Carmine's in 1994 on Chicago's Rush Street. The restaurant boasts Italian American fare, steaks, chops and seafood.

Truluck's, an upscale Texas-based chain that opened a spot just blocks from Carmine's in Chicago last year, is opening its 11th location, which will feature fresh-caught stone crab from its own fisheries near the Florida Keys, steaks and wine from a 70-item list. The two-story, 12,000-square-foot restaurant will include a lounge with nightly entertainment.

"As we looked to strengthen our roots in what's widely recognized as one of the country's top food lovers' markets, we couldn't help but be drawn to all the activity taking place in Rosemont's rapidly growing entertainment and culinary districts," said Truluck's chief operating officer, David Tripoli, said in an announcement.

Truluck's is scheduled to open Monday after a 4 p.m. ribbon cutting. Weekday lunch service will begin Oct. 15.

Carmine's will open at 5 p.m. Monday.

Still to come in The Pearl is The Rose Hotel, a five-story, 165-room hotel of Hilton's new Tapestry Collection brand, aimed at an upscale market segment of business and leisure travelers. It is scheduled to open in mid-November.

A 40,500-square-foot Dave & Buster's, featuring 155 arcade-style games along with a bar and restaurant, was the first piece of the new Rosemont complex to open in April.

The village has been planning for the new entertainment complex for years, buying up and demolishing former light industrial buildings in the area about a decade ago. And two years ago, it set up a tax increment financing district - in which property tax money above a certain point is set aside for redevelopment rather than for local governments - to help fund costs.

While the village owns and leases the Dave & Buster's site, it gave land to Braden Real Estate for the two restaurants and to Janko Group for the hotel. The village also built a 775-space parking garage for the complex.
