Fine art, country living pair up at Art in the Barn

Fine art, live music and country living all came together this weekend as thousands flocked to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Lake Barrington for the 44th annual Art in the Barn festival.

An expected crowd of about 5,000 walked through the barn area at the hospital during the two-day fest, viewing the works of some 175 artists while also enjoying a variety of music performed by school and professional groups.

The fest also featured a brat tent for when visitors needed to refuel for more viewing and numerous children's activities, including hands-on painting, pumpkin decorating and a petting zoo.

More than 400 volunteers worked to put the show on, which is a major fundraiser for the hospital and the Auxiliary of Good Shepherd Hospital.
