Schaumburg, Illinois hosting visitors from Schaumburg, Germany

Schaumburg will host a group of six German visitors from Friday through Oct. 1, as part of the village's Sister Cities Exchange, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary with the county of Schaumburg, Germany this year.

The German visitors will stay with host families who have graciously offered to share their homes as part of the program. Visitors include four members of the Schaumburg German-American Society, a state legislator and a journalist.

Some of their activities will include tours of the various village departments, the Schaumburg community, St. Peter Lutheran Church and School, the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel & Convention Center, Schaumburg Township District Library, Schaumburg Regional Airport, Spring Valley/Volkening Heritage Farm and the Trickster Gallery.

A special 35th Anniversary performance at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts and reception will conclude their visit. For more information, contact Kathleen Tempesta, director of community services, at ktempesta@schaumburg.com.
