Harper College offering free ultrasounds

The Harper College Diagnostic Cardiac and Medical Sonography programs are seeking volunteers interested in receiving free ultrasounds. Appointments are available on select evenings through November 8.

Ultrasound exams include carotid artery (participants must be at least 50 years old) and arteries/veins of the legs (participants must be at least 18 years old). The free tests, which last about an hour each, are non-diagnostic. Volunteers will not receive a medical report but may be instructed to follow-up with a physician.

All exams will be performed by students on state-of-the-art equipment, under the supervision of a registered diagnostic medical sonographer. Harper's program conforms to all patient safety regulations.

Appointments are required and fill up quickly. Contact Karen in the Harper College Diagnostics Imaging Lab at (847) 925.6104.
