Teens held in Schaumburg armed robbery
The second of two defendants who prosecutors say robbed a Schaumburg convenience store at gunpoint Aug. 21 appeared in a Rolling Meadows courtroom Wednesday for a bond hearing.
Mauriel Shepard, 18, of Chicago is charged with armed robbery, a felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison. He was ordered held on $750,000 bail, court records show.
Prosecutors say Shepard entered a convenience store on the 900 block of Wise Road on Aug. 21, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.
Co-defendant Darrin Dorsey, 18, of Elk Grove Village grabbed items off the tobacco shelves, said Assistant Cook County State's Attorney Ryan DeGroot.
Dorsey was ordered held on $65,000 bail Tuesday.
The teens next appear in court Sept. 20.
