Police: 'No threat' made against St. Francis High School in Wheaton

An investigation by Wheaton police has concluded that no credible threat was made over the weekend against St. Francis High School, officials said Wednesday.

A concerned parent alerted police Sunday about a rumor of a threat circulating on social media. Police notified St. Francis administrators and launched their investigation.

The alleged comment was "not threat-specific" but was a cause for concern to police and the Catholic school off Roosevelt Road, a city news release stated.

Wheaton police conducted interviews with school staff, students and the student alleged to have made the comment. Police also review electronic communication.

Police "found a substantial amount of conversations among students, parents and other people on social media about an alleged threat, but the extensive investigation has concluded that no threat was ever made," the release stated.

The family of the student voluntarily withdrew the teen Wednesday morning from St. Francis High School "because they feel it is in the best interest of all parties," according to the release.

Police said they found no evidence of criminal conduct involving the student.
