Metropolis announces new shows for 2018-19 season
Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights has announced a series of concerts, comedy sets and other performances as part of its upcoming 2018-19 lineup.
Metropolis, at 111 W. Campbell St., previously announced its main stage season of four shows: "A Chorus Line" Sept. 20-Nov. 3; "The Mouse Trap" Jan. 31-March 16; "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" May 16-June 29; and "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story" July 18-Aug. 24.
Among the newest shows to be announced are: "An Evening with Stand-Up Comedian Pat McGann" Sept. 15; "The Comedy Jam with Uncle Larry and Guests" Oct. 10; "Simply Sinatra" Nov. 10; The Sting Police Nov. 16; "It's A Good Day: A Tribute to Miss Peggy Lee" Nov. 17; "An Evening with Rocky LaPorte and Friends Mike Preston and Brian Hicks" Dec. 3; The Kingston Trio Dec. 11; "An Evening with George Winston" Dec. 17-18; and The Four Freshmen Jan. 12.
Shows later in the season include "Marrakesh Express: A Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Experience" Jan. 18; "The Lira Ensemble: A Polish Celebration" Jan. 19; "The Chicago Experience: A Tribute to Rock with Horns" Jan. 25; "Higher and Higher: A Rock 'n Soul Shindig! Starring Chester Gregory" Feb. 27; and Creole Stomp March 23.
Metropolis will also have holiday shows including the return of "A Christmas Carol" Nov. 29-Dec. 24 and "The Second City's Nut-Cracking Holiday Revue" Dec. 22-31.
