Mari-Rae Sopper Gymnastics Show in Palatine May 19

Palatine Gymnastics will host the annual Mari-Rae Sopper Gymnastics Show at the village park district's Community Center from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 19.

The free show will be in the facility's gymnasium, with seating available in the bleachers and in limited numbers on a walking track. All Preschool, Mini Mights and Superboys performances will be at 1 p.m., followed by all recreation classes at 3:15 p.m.

The show is in memory of Sopper, who was 35 years old when hijackers crashed the airplane she was on into the Pentagon in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Sopper, a Navy lieutenant and military attorney, grew up in Inverness and was a star gymnast at Fremd High School in Palatine.

The community center is at 250 E. Wood St.
