Identity of homeless man found dead in Arlington Heights released

The homeless man found dead last week in downtown Arlington Heights was identified Thursday as 65-year-old Mark T. Mountain.

Officials with the Cook County medical examiner's office had withheld the man's identity while trying to contact next of kin, but were unsuccessful in reaching anybody. Spokeswoman Becky Schlikerman said they are releasing his identity now in hopes family or friends contact the medical examiner's office.

Police received a 911 call about 3:30 p.m. May 10 from someone who saw the unresponsive man lying in a landscaped area near the intersection of Arlington Heights Road and Northwest Highway. Police said last week the manner of death appeared to be natural, and they did not suspect foul play.
