Northwest suburban emergency management coordinator wins state award

Mick Fleming, coordinator of the Northwest Central Joint Emergency Management System, recently was honored with the 2018 Five Phases Award by the Illinois Emergency Services Management Association in Springfield.

He was recognized for his skill in the following five areas of emergency management: prevention, protection, mitigation, response and recovery.

The emergency management system was started three years ago as a way to improve services and reduce costs for emergency management. The 10 members are Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Mount Prospect, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg and Streamwood.
