Prison for two arrested with 134 small bags of heroin at McHenry park

Two people pleaded guilty and were sentenced to prison Monday ahead of their trial for possession of 134 bags of heroin - or a little more than an ounce - at a McHenry park in October 2017.

Raymond P. Teague, 31, of Waukegan, was sentenced to 9½ years in prison after pleading guilty to felony possession of 15 grams to 100 grams of heroin, according to the McHenry County state's attorney's office and court records.

Alexandra M. Hanners, 24, of Darien, Wisconsin, was sentenced to 3½ years in prison after pleading guilty to felony possession of a controlled substance, according to the state's attorney's office and court records.

According to prosecutors, Teague and Hanners were arrested Oct. 8 by McHenry police officers who found the two sleeping in a vehicle in a parking lot at Whispering Oaks Park, which was closed.

Authorities found the bags of heroin packaged for sale in Teague's possession. Hanners told authorities she used some of Teague's heroin and drove Teague to make heroin deliveries, prosecutors said.

Teague was sentenced to four years in prison - serving half - and fined $1,765 after pleading guilty in April 2013 to felony methamphetamine possession from 2012, according to court records. He had felony arrests in November 2014 and May 2015 but charges were later dismissed.

After Teague's arrest, authorities seized $847 from him and filed a court petition to have the money forfeited to the state. A judge signed off on the forfeiture in January 2018. Teague also must pay $2,768 in court costs and fines with his guilty plea.

Teague and Hanners can have their prison terms cut in half for good behavior. They also each get a little more than six months credit for time served at the county jail while the cases were pending.
