Islamic Relief volunteers join to pack meals for the hungry in Addison

For volunteers who gathered Saturday in Addison, iIt was a day to think of others and to help those who lack the means to provide healthy food for their families.

It also was a day to spend time working with neighbors as hundreds of people gathered for the annual Ramadan Food Pack-Out sponsored by Islamic Relief USA.

Volunteers worked in two 4-hour shifts with the goal of preparing 5,000 packaged meals of nonperishable foods that will be distributed through area food pantries, houses of worship and other agencies.
