Images: Opening day for the Chicago Cubs and White Sox

It was a great start to the season as both the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox won their opening day games.

The Cubs defeated the Miami Marlins 8-4 at Marlins Park with home runs from Ian Happ, Anthony Rizzo and Kyle Schwarber.

Pitcher Jon Lester gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks lasting only 3 1/3 innings.

The White Sox demolished the Kansas City Royals 14-7 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.

The team set a record with six opening day home runs as Matt Davidson hit three, Tim Anderson with two and Jose Abreu getting one.

Pitcher James Shields had a rough start giving up four runs in the first inning but pitched six innings.
