Schaumburg eagerly awaiting Septemberfest

While most summer festivals have come and gone and kids are already settling back into school, Schaumburg's biggest celebration of the year is right around the corner.

Septemberfest will again take place on the village's municipal grounds, 101 Schaumburg Court, over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5-7.

Despite the recent cancellation of November's Christkindlesmarkt, Schaumburg's most popular outdoor event is undoubtedly Septemberfest's annual tradition of rides, music, food and a parade.

Hours are: 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Sept. 5; 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sept. 6 and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Sept. 7.

Among the many musical acts that will perform throughout the weekend, the headliners are the Randy Bachman Band from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 5, Starship starring Mickey Thomas and Toto's Bobby Kimball from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 6 and Mike & Joe from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 7.

There will be fireworks at 10 p.m. Sept. 6, and the Septemberfest Parade begins at 10 a.m. Sept. 7. The two-mile parade route moves north on Summit Drive from Wise Road to Stock Port Lane.

The event is also populated by kids' entertainers, cooking and dance demos, pony rides, fashion shows, crime prevention demonstrations, a "Science on the Go" mobile laboratory and the reign of the new Miss Septemberfest.

Why go out of town for Labor Day weekend when all the best about living in Schaumburg will be there?
