Reading program ends with sounds of Caribbean

Town and Country Public Library, 320 E. North St. in Elburn, will host its Summer Reading grand finale concert with The Gratitude Steel Band from Detroit, Mich. This steel band will perform its Caribbean program at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8.

The Gratitude Steel Band has performed at the University of Michigan, Oakland University, and schools and libraries in Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. For more on the band, visit www.gratitudesteelband.com/HOME_.html.

At 5:30 p.m., the library will host a "wild" party with hot dogs, chips, cookies and beverages. To make sure they have enough food, sign up at the library for this special event. The concert will be held outside, weather permitting. Be sure to bring your lawn chair or blanket. At the beginning of the concert, the winners of the four Summer Reading grand prizes will be announced. You do not have to be present at the concert to win. For details, call (630) 365-2244.
